As we read through the Bible, we see that it really is another example of life (or more accurately, the adversary) giving us humans lemons, but then God transforms those lemons into lemonade, so that we can share that lemonade with others. Where do I see that, you ask? Read:
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply … And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. (Genesis 1:27-28 & 31)
Or, put another way, in the beginning it was all good. But then, the serpent came and offered Adam & Eve some lemons…
Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, “Yeah, has God said, ‘you shall not eat of every tree of the garden?’”
And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: But of the fruit of the tree which is in the middle of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat of it, neither shall you touch it, or you shall die.’”
And the serpent said unto the woman, “You shall not surely die: For God knows that in the day that you eat of it, then your eyes shall be opened, and you shall be like gods, knowing good and evil.”
And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit, and did eat, and also gave some to her husband with her; and he did eat. (Genesis 3:1-6)
OK, so Adam and Eve took the lemons from the adversary, and as a result of their and our sin, we all end up separated from the presence of God. The Bible says:
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23)
But fortunately, the story doesn’t end there. God Himself stepped in, and transformed those lemons into lemonade, providing us with a free gift:
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. (Romans 6:23)
For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time. (1 Timothy 1:5-6)
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. (John 3:16-17)
For by grace are you saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. (Ephesians 2:8-9)
There you have it, the greatest lemonade ever. God sent his son Jesus into the world to take the punishment for all sin, and to make a way for us to be reconciled back to God. But like any gift, we have the ability to either accept the gift or to reject it.
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name (John 1:12)
If you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you shall be saved. … For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. (Romans 10:9 & 13)
There - you see how you receive the gift: Confess with your mouth that Jesus is your Lord, and Believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead. If you did that, the Bible says you are saved. Whosoever (this includes you) shall call upon Jesus as Lord will be saved. If you haven’t done that, do it NOW! There is no reason to wait. God has a whole new life waiting for you. The Bible says:
And this is the record, that God has given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that has the Son has life; and he that has not the Son of God has not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may believe on the name of the Son of God. (1 John 5:11-13)
If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. (2 Corinthians 5:17)
